Learning Objectives:

1)    Explore post-pandemic mental health concerns.
2)    Provide brief history and overview of the role psychedelic medicine is playing in mental health.
3)    Learn how PAP fits with marginalized communities.

This event will offer an abridged history of psychedelics in US medical spaces. Participants will consider the ethics of psychedelic care, risks, and avoiding harm to consumers. Presenters will conduct an overview of diagnosis and empirical data which supports treatment outcomes.

Presenters will address the ethical considerations of race in treatment spaces. Participants will reflect on current implications for practitioners in the allied health or behavioral health field.

The event is open to practitioners from a variety of backgrounds. We strongly encourage local (DC, MD, VA) licensed practitioners to be in attendance.

We look forward to sharing the many ways helping professionals can positively impact consumers through plant and psychedelic treatment

Dane Ray

Dane Ray is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor with 24 years of experience as an educator, within and on behalf of the LGBTQIA+ communities; with additional experience in prevention education and research related to HAHSTA (HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD and TB Administration).  Dane believes that in order to achieve equity in care, it is critical that mental health and community health providers be informed of and prepared to meet the needs of transgender and gender expansive people. In working towards this goal, Dane’s current research interests center on public health communication in response to gaps in the healthcare system for self-identified trans and gender expansive people. Dane opened up D & A Consulting Services to help more directly address systemic healthcare issues by designing services that are curated for the most marginalized in the LGBTQ community. Dane’s educational accomplishments include graduating from Lincoln University, MIT (Anthropology), Birmingham-Southern College (Leadership Studies and Religion) and the University of the District of Columbia (Rehabilitation Counseling). Dane is an avid music lover, enjoys married life and parenting  his three year old daughter.
